WHAT DOES "AL-MROUKBI" MEAN?

It is said that Tripoli, due to the fertility of its plains, once had a large amount of lemon production, particularly of the sour variety, which was known as "Al-Mroukbi” — a nod at the Tripolitan’s use of the letter waw.  The name pays homage to the time and activity of loading and exporting the lemons onto shipping vessels across the Sea, until the beginning of World War II. You can still smell the lemon blossoms when they open every early spring while walking through the city's streets.
